I think that in all of the GN'R albums up and including "The Spaghetti Incident?" his voice is good. Unfortunately I think he's lost it a bit now... the new tracks just don't really sound like him... even though they are him... If you know what I mean!
If, by some random chance, you can work out what I meant there - Congratulations! Frankly, this post made no sense... _________________ No Sleep... 'til Bedtime!

Lou! Quite simply, he's trying to stretch himself past what we have come to know and love and instead of embracing that fact people are scared of him branching out calling him "experimental" when all he's doing is trying to learn and evolve like all normal people do, ya know!
He's a great frontman and has a distinctive voice, not many of those came up in his generation of singers! _________________ "A moment can change everything" |

I'm not sure that I totally agree with that. I don't think that he is experimenting with his voice, I just think it's got weaker. Have you heard the new tracks?
Yes, he's a great frontman (when he shows up) and he has/had a distinctive voice, but I don't think the stuff he's doing now is really using his voice to it's best potential.
Yes, we should embrace artists when they experiment and develop, but they should also know that if they change styles dramatically then they're going to alienate (some of) their original fans.
Here's one more thought... Should we force ourselves to listen to and like a piece of music just because it's made by a well-known artist who is 'experimenting'? I think the music should speak for itself... if it doesn't, then you know something's wrong. And, bringing this post back to it's original point, I just don't think Axl's new stuff does stand up on its own. If it was released by a brand new artist then, as much as it pains me to say it, it wouldn't stand a chance. The funny thing is that I'm an Axl fan... _________________ No Sleep... 'til Bedtime!

I think we should not like any artist for liking thems sake - even if they dont experiment but make a cd of dogshit, fine.. I think that people should love the music not the people. It does change with bands who can do no wrong - there are a few, maiden for example, who dont change format and have an endless bag of tricks. But all in all - you cant rely on bands to be consistant - so I pick and choose the songs I folow - and hope one person does a lot of them!
That being said if a band experiments and it fails, then they should be given a chance to redeem |

Thanks El Soddo, I think you've managed to sum up what I was trying to get across there.
I will disagree on one point though.... Iron Maiden have done wrong! Lou is not liking the new video... loving the track, can't stand the vid! _________________ No Sleep... 'til Bedtime!

| True but in reality Iron maiden have not made consistantly good videos - some are excellent - most are dated and basic or just bad.. so I leave them out of the equation |

...but some of them are so bad that they're good! The new one is just a bit... well... boring. _________________ No Sleep... 'til Bedtime!

Well, i think axyl voice is OK, not the best, but, after hearing the Darkness, by a long way, not the worst
