I would make a poll here, but I think there's too many!
My vote would have to go to "Powerslave" - to me, that's Iron Maiden at their very best!

Hmmm. Difficult. I'll probably have to go with Powerslave too, although there are very strong arguments to be made for Killers, Seventh Son, Brave New World and, in my opinion, The X Factor too.
On Powerslave you've got the obvious classics 2 Minutes To Midnight, Powerslave, Rime of the Ancient Mariner & Aces High, but also some of the most underrated numbers like Back in the Village (just fuckin superb) & Flash of the Blade. _________________ www.nephwrack.com

The X Factor...
Now that's an interesting choice... I wouldn't have said it was a contender for the best Maiden album, but.. I haven't listened to it in a while.
I'm gonna have to give it a fresh listen when I get home! _________________ No Sleep... 'til Bedtime!

Yeah I think it gets unfairly overlooked due to Blaze Bayley's voice not being as distinctive as Bruce's, and the fact that it's got a pretty ropey production job(Steve Harris' first solo production effort). That aside, it's got some bona fide classic Maiden numbers - Sign of the Cross, Judgement of Heaven, Man on the Edge, Look for the Truth, Edge of Darkness. Pisses all over Fear of the Dark & No Prayer For the Dying in my book. _________________ www.nephwrack.com

That's OK - you'd only get a slapping if you said Virtual XI.
Somewhere in Time's the first Maiden LP I owned so has a special place in my heart. Also it's got Wasted Years, Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner, DeJa Vu, Alexander the Great & the title track - all top numbers. _________________ www.nephwrack.com

Actually "Somewhere In Time" is the first and only Iron Maiden album I've ever had. It rocks muchly, everything else I've heard is pants in comparison. But thats just me _________________ "A moment can change everything" |

Snap. Somewhere In Time was the first Maiden album (and song) I ever heard. Ed - you missed Heaven Can Wait off the list! "Wohoho. Wohohohohooohooho..."
As far as the best goes I'm not sure I could pick one. Fear of the Dark and Piece of Mind have both always had a special place in my heart too.
If pressed I'd probably say Seventh Son, but then I listen to Brave New World and change my mind. X Factor is underrated - the opening track is a great song - and lets face it, as debut albums go, Iron Maiden is definitley up there. How good is Prowler as an opener?
