Where it came fromI remmeber reading somewhere that Faith No Mores angel Dust was the inspiration for Nu Metal. If this is the case it makes me sick.. I suppose im a bit of a metal snob - I have and never will like Nu Metal, and Angel Dust is my favourite album.. So Im torn - I can see where the arguement came from, and people like Korn all state heavy influence from FNM... what do people think? Any other places Nu Metal came from?

Good question.
I have to admit that I'm a bit of a metal snob too, and tend to steer clear of nu metal (except for one or two bands).
However, I do really like Faith No More....
What catagory would you place Rage Against The Machine in? I think more than a few Nu Metal bands were influenced by them...

I think RATM was the first of its kind, political rap metal. Basically they created a new sound I had not heard before - maybe this was the start of bringing rap to metal in a popular way. I mean it has been done years before - but not to this degree.. But as for catagorising them? Well split Nu Metal into New Metal (not shit) and Nu Metal (shit) and they go in the first

Speaking of rap in metal.... I hear Body Count are making a comeback!

I remember seeing them in brixton on the first album tour.... The fact there were no black people except Bodycount , actually made me feel weird. I hoped bodycound would be the start of crossing genres and mixing fans and creeds more. but no - metal for white kids. depressed me.. heres hoping their comeback is of the 1st albums standards - cheesy stupid and fun

It's a real shame that music (expecially metal) can be so racially divided

I know - it is shite... then again so is every genre of music really a divider race wise..

As the forums Nu-metal fan (Yes I like metal also) I'd say thay had a huuuge Influence on the genre. The impact thay have had on bands like Korn, System of a Down,Rage Against the Machine Ect... Had a huge impact!

Blame Linkin Park and Limp Bizkit for killing the genre though ay! They brought to much video based promotion into the bargain!
