To kick-start the Opeth section I thought I'd ask what your favourite Opeth album was... and, if you feel like telling us why, then that would be good too!

For me it's a close run thing between "Still Life", "Blackwater Park" and "Ghost Reveries".

"Blackwater Park" wins. Basically because it's the first Opeth album that I really paid any attention to... and they are no poor tracks on it.

Mine is Blackwater Park 'cos it's awesome!

I know, i'll give a real reason-

It's just a really good personal sorta album that has a great escapism vibe to it, I used to listen to this one alot and lay down in a pitch black room and its very epic but still introspective enough to feel part of, just a great album GO AND GET IT PEEPS!!! Wink

Plus if i'm not losing it I think Steve Wilson worked on this one too! and he has a good ear for sounds.

...and there are some nice tinkling on the pianos here and there.

Nice choice! ...and not just because I picked it too! Laughing

If you like music that you can 'get lost' in - check out "Classica" by Novembre.

I've heard some of Novembre and wasn't turned off by what I heard but dont know if i'd purchase an album though.
I find it similar to Katatonia (another band I like) but not as hot. (maybe i'll give it another whirl! I do like the atmospherics)

Katatonia are better than Novembre because they have songs. But Novembre is awesome ina texture way! I like 'me, only bought them on Loucifers recommendation.
